Department Objectives

足彩澳门即时盘_澳门足彩博彩-游戏公司 is both a global language that connects the world and a language deeply rooted in local histories and cultures. In this department, we explore the diversity and potential of 足彩澳门即时盘_澳门足彩博彩-游戏公司 language and culture while also considering its relationship with Japanese language and culture.  

In the first and second years, students study mainly foundational subjects and classes that develop comprehensive 足彩澳门即时盘_澳门足彩博彩-游戏公司 language proficiency—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—through small-group classes (approximately 10 students) taught by native speakers.   

In the third and fourth years, students expand their practical 足彩澳门即时盘_澳门足彩博彩-游戏公司 skills into specialized fields. The department offers two areas of concentration: "Literature & Culture" and "Language & Communication." Through these specializations, each student will acquire a broad-based, global education, conceive a specialized research theme, and then culminate this knowledge in a graduation research project.

We also recommend actively utilizing opportunities to listen to spoken 足彩澳门即时盘_澳门足彩博彩-游戏公司 through mass media. Since 足彩澳门即时盘_澳门足彩博彩-游戏公司 intersects with various disciplines, students should acquire knowledge in subjects related to society, culture, history, science, current affairs, and international issues. Developing the habit of gathering information through classes and various media sources is beneficial.  

At the university level, students will have many opportunities to articulate their own thoughts clearly. To develop self-expression skills, we also encourage students to take their Japanese language classes seriously.

Department Objectives

We perceive, think, imagine, create, and communicate through the Japanese language in our daily lives. By reflecting on this fundamental reality, we explore how the Japanese language has shaped literature and culture across various fields such as politics, economics, and history, and what it will achieve in the future.  

Developing a keen sensitivity and analytical ability toward the Japanese language, as well as cultivating highly refined skills of expressivity, serves as a foundational literacy skill. In today’s information society, such literacy enables individuals to think objectively and live autonomously.

Qualities We Look for in Students

  • Individuals who are interested in exploring the Japanese language across different times, both past and present, and across different places. 
  • Individuals who seek to study classical and modern Japanese literature while considering the broader context of politics, economics, history, and philosophy.  
  • Individuals who wish to understand how Japanese culture has interacted with East Asian and Western cultures, how these interactions shaped its identity, and how it will continue to evolve in the future.

Recommended High School Preparation

It is important to develop a solid foundation in all high school subjects. Additionally, students should engage in extensive reading to refine their awareness of important issues, critically assess the vast array of information in today’s media-driven society, and develop the ability to selectively evaluate and analyze information.

Department Objectives

Engaging with the history and ideas of humankind, this department offers a global and multifaceted approach to studying contemporary society and culture. The goal is to nurture individuals who can respond flexibly and with a balanced perspective to the complex issues of modern society.  

To achieve this, the department is structured into two specialized areas: "Contemporary Society" and "History & Thought." Students integrate their learning across various subjects, building a strong foundation in the humanities and social sciences while developing their expertise in specialized fields.  

Moreover, students have the opportunity to conceive their own research themes while engaging in interdisciplinary studies related to society and culture. From the first year, the curriculum includes small-group seminar courses, in which students fostering strong relationships with faculty as well as among peers. This supportive environment enhances students’ academic and personal growth.

  • Individuals who are interested not only in their own values and way of life but also in those of others, with a desire to contribute to society.  
  • Individuals who are highly aware of social issues in both Japan and the global community, and who possess a strong intellectual curiosity.  
  • Individuals who aim to enhance their critical thinking, expressive abilities, and capacity for action.

These subjects, along with fields outside the humanities, are interconnected with our cultural activities and form the basis for understanding both Japan and the world.  

Additionally, students should deepen their awareness of current events in Japan and around the world through various media. Discovering personal interests in, and an inquisitive attitude towards, these events is crucial. This inquisitiveness will serve as the first step towards understanding the relationship between past history and contemporary society, as well as Japan's position in the global context.
